Coffee & Conversation

  • Broadway Armory 5917 North Broadway Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

Our coffee and conversations are in the Broadway Armory dining room and start at 9 a.m. Meet up with us there for lively exploration of each week’s topics.

Moderators will facilitate the discussion as the group explores interesting and sometimes controversial topics. Each week’s discussion is typically accompanied by some readings you’ll receive in advance via email. Topics for the subsequent week are decided at the previous discussion.

This week’s topics are:

  1. The Chicago Public Schools: What should be guiding principles for CPS (i) in prioritization of funding amongst school locations + educational programs and (ii) in its admission policies, especially for selective enrollment schools?

  2. The recent defeat of the Bring Home Chicago referendum and election of Eileen Burke as States Attorney:  What did we learn about the electorate and local politics in 2024 from these results?

If you are interested in participating in our discussions but are not on our distribution list, send an email to John Williams and we will add you to the list.
